Australia Leads the World in AI Engagement with 5M Uses Per Capita
A recent study has identified Australia as the country most engaged with artificial intelligence (AI), recording over 5 million AI uses per capita. The findings, released by the research firm Eskimoz, highlight significant differences in AI adoption and reliance among various nations. As of 2025, global AI usage has surged by 20%, underscoring a growing dependency on this technology across the globe.
The study evaluated three critical factors related to AI activity: total visits to AI-themed websites and applications, traffic per 100,000 residents, and the rate of visits to AI tools. By focusing on per capita traffic, Eskimoz ensured that larger countries did not skew the results. This approach allowed for a clearer picture of AI engagement across different populations.
Australia’s AI Dominance
Australia emerged at the top of the ranking, with a staggering total of 1.35 billion AI interactions annually. Approximately 1.67% of this traffic is attributed to AI tools, such as chatbots and content generators. This engagement reflects a strong cultural inclination toward integrating AI solutions into everyday activities.
Following closely is the Netherlands, which ranks second with nearly 5 million AI uses per capita, translating to over 917 million total interactions. The Netherlands records an AI tool engagement rate of just over 1%, indicating a significant yet less intensive use of specialized AI services compared to Australia.
Canada takes the third spot, with approximately 4.8 million AI interactions per capita, culminating in a total of 2 billion annual uses. Interestingly, Canadians show a heightened interest in specialized AI tools, resulting in 2.4% of all their AI queries directed towards these services—double the amount seen in Australia.
Global AI Engagement Patterns
The United States ranks fourth, boasting the highest total traffic to AI platforms at an impressive 16.4 billion uses in one year. This figure is significantly higher than any other country, with AI tools making up 20% of all traffic. Despite its larger population, the U.S. maintains a per capita engagement rate of 4.7 million AI interactions, closely following Canada.
The United Kingdom rounds out the top five, showing an AI usage rate of 3.5 million per capita. This translates to a total of 2.4 billion annual queries for AI services, with AI tools accounting for 3% of total visits.
Germany follows in sixth place, logging approximately 2.6 billion total AI uses and demonstrating strong reliance on AI tools, which represent 3.18% of all traffic. Spain and France are close contenders, with Spain recording 1.4 billion AI interactions and France reaching 1.9 billion. Both countries exhibit notable engagement with AI applications, with specialized tools making up 1.77% and 2.4% of total interactions, respectively.
Peru is the only South American country featured in the study, ranking ninth with an AI usage rate of 2.6 million. The nation registered 926 million total AI visits, surpassing the Netherlands slightly. Malaysia rounds out the top ten with a rate of 2.4 million AI interactions per 100,000 residents.
As AI technology continues to evolve, these statistics highlight the varying degrees of adoption and engagement across the world. The findings from Eskimoz not only illustrate Australia’s leading position but also shed light on global trends in AI utilization, pointing toward a future where AI becomes increasingly integrated into daily life across different cultures and economies.
