Angelbliss Baby Bassinet Recalled Over Suffocation Risk
The Angelbliss Baby Bassinet Bedside Crib has been recalled due to serious safety concerns related to suffocation and entrapment risks. According to Health Canada, the product’s sleep surface has an incline angle exceeding 7 degrees, which violates Canadian regulations for cribs, cradles, and bassinets. This incline poses a potential danger to infants, making them vulnerable to entrapment and suffocation.
Health Canada emphasizes that this particular crib, designed for newborns, is often used for naps or overnight trips. It connects to the side of a bed for easy access during the night. The official product name is the Angelbliss Baby Bassinet Bedside Crib with Storage Basket and Wheels, Easy Folding Bed Side Sleeper Adjustable Height Portable Crib for Newborn.
Immediate Safety Recommendations
In light of this recall, Health Canada advises consumers to stop using the affected product immediately. Parents and caregivers should safely dispose of the bassinet to prevent any future use. The government agency underscores the importance of safe sleep practices, recommending that babies sleep on their backs on a firm, flat surface specifically designed for their rest.
The bassinet was previously available for purchase on Amazon.ca, where it is reported that 19 units were sold in Canada before being removed from the site. Health Canada has also reached out to the product’s distributor, Liuzihao, a company based in China, to address the situation.
As of now, no injuries have been reported in Canada linked to this product. However, Health Canada continues to monitor the situation closely. For further information on safe sleep environments for infants, parents can refer to Health Canada’s Consumer Information resources.
