GunZ: The Duel Unveils Second Global Playtest Set for December
GunZ: The Duel will launch its second global playtest on December 11, running through December 14, 2023. Developed by Masangsoft, this playtest will be available on Steam, allowing players to experience enhancements made in response to feedback from the initial closed test. This feedback was collected through clips on Medal.tv, discussions on Discord, and in-game reports.
The team has released a comprehensive changelog detailing significant improvements. On the technical side, the playtest will feature a higher tick rate, an adjustable field-of-view slider, and anti-lead settings that range from 0 to 100. Players can also expect smoother network performance, which aims to enhance overall gameplay.
Combat Enhancements and System Updates
Key updates are coming to the combat mechanics as well. New multi-kill indicators and audio cues have been added, along with optional enemy outlines. The developers have refined the colors of the HP bar, and players will no longer experience camera lock during wall runs, which should allow for more fluid movement.
Beyond combat, the developers are implementing system updates to improve the player experience. Matches will now begin even if not all players select “ready.” Additionally, AFK detection has been strengthened, and the chat and shop interfaces have received a polish for greater clarity. Long-standing issues, such as HP and AP display errors, scoreboard inconsistencies, and map clipping problems, have been addressed. Smaller enhancements include options to center the combat UI, introduce a brief mouse-wheel delay, and try practice weapons for experimentation.
According to PD Max, the Game Director, this phase of the playtest represents months of tuning influenced by player insights. The goal is to update GunZ’s signature style while maintaining the fast-paced, acrobatic identity that fans cherish.
Accessing the Playtest
Players can access the playtest directly from the game’s Steam store page once registration opens. Approval for participation will be handled through Steam’s access system, and selected newsletter subscribers will receive access keys via email. The playtest is set to be live from December 11 at 18:00 PST to December 14 at 18:00 PST.
As anticipation builds for this second global playtest, players will have the opportunity to engage with a refined version of GunZ: The Duel, showcasing the developers’ commitment to enhancing the gameplay experience based on community feedback.
