Marguerite N. Conboy has been appointed as a judge for the Denver County Court in Colorado by Mayor Mike Johnson. This new role marks a significant milestone in Conboy’s legal career, which began in her hometown of Rochelle, Illinois.

Early Life and Education

Conboy, born Marguerite Nye, spent her formative years in Rochelle, where she grew up with her brothers. She pursued her higher education at the University of Colorado and later obtained her law degree from the DePaul University College of Law.

Legal Career Highlights

Her legal journey commenced as a law clerk for Judge Richard N. DeGunther in the U.S. Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Following this position, Conboy took on roles at various law firms in Chicago and the firm of Fearer, Nye & Chadwick in Rochelle and Oregon.

After relocating to Colorado, she served as a senior deputy district attorney for Denver County. Conboy subsequently held the position of first assistant to District Attorney Beth McCann. She later became the first assistant district attorney for the Fifth Judicial District of Colorado, which encompasses four counties north and west of Denver.

In addition to her judicial responsibilities, Conboy imparts her legal knowledge as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She has taught courses in advanced trial practice and advanced criminal procedure, contributing to the education of future legal professionals.

Conboy resides in Denver with her husband, Jim, where she now embarks on this new chapter as a county judge, reflecting her dedication to public service and the legal community.
