A recent survey conducted by Narrative Research reveals that a majority of Nova Scotians are satisfied with the performance of the provincial government led by Tim Houston. The survey, part of the latest Atlantic quarterly assessment, indicates that 57 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the Houston administration, reflecting a slight increase of three percentage points compared to last year. However, this figure represents a decline of three points since May 2023.

Satisfaction levels vary across the Atlantic region. In Newfoundland and Labrador, the provincial government enjoys the highest approval, with 66 percent of residents reporting satisfaction. This suggests a regional trend where local governance is viewed favorably in comparison to provincial administrations elsewhere.

When examining the performance of the federal government, the survey found that 59 percent of Nova Scotians are satisfied with the actions of Ottawa. This reflects a broader sentiment across Atlantic Canada, where overall satisfaction with the Carney government stands at approximately 60 percent. This marks the highest level of satisfaction for the federal government in the region since the end of 2020.

The findings provide insight into the political landscape of Nova Scotia and its neighboring provinces. The increase in satisfaction with the Houston government may be attributed to various factors, including recent policy implementations and public engagements that resonate with constituents.

The survey highlights a growing trend of political contentment among Nova Scotians, suggesting that the provincial government is making strides in addressing the concerns of its residents. As the political climate continues to evolve, it will be critical to monitor these satisfaction levels and the factors influencing public perception in the coming months.

Overall, the data from Narrative Research paints a picture of a region that is increasingly pleased with its governance, both at the provincial and federal levels, reflecting a sense of stability and confidence among the electorate.
