A third individual has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder, linked to a shooting that seriously injured an 11-year-old girl in Regina’s Eastview neighbourhood. The incident occurred last month, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Regina Police Service (RPS).

In a news release issued on the morning of August 11, 2023, RPS announced charges against a 41-year-old man. In addition to attempted murder, he faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, reckless discharge of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of possessing a firearm in violation of a prohibition order.

Earlier this week, two other men, aged 20 and 18, were also charged with similar offenses, including attempted murder, in connection to this shooting. The police responded to an emergency call shortly after 2 a.m. on the day of the incident, arriving at a residence on the 1100 block of Edgar Street where they found the young girl suffering from a gunshot wound.

She was swiftly transported to a hospital with serious injuries. During a news conference, RPS Acting Chief Lorilee Davies confirmed that the girl is “continuing to recover.” Davies indicated that police believe the home was specifically targeted, as they reported that up to 20 shots were fired at the residence, with one bullet striking the victim.

While Davies refrained from disclosing additional details regarding the incident—such as the number of shooters involved, the type of firearm used, or any potential involvement of drugs or gangs—the investigation is still active. The 41-year-old suspect was expected to appear in Regina provincial court on the same day the charges were announced.

The RPS continues to encourage anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to contact them at 1-306-777-6500 or reach out to Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online.

As this case develops, the Regina community remains on alert, hoping for justice and a swift resolution to this troubling incident.
