Trump Unveils ‘Presidential Walk of Fame’ Featuring Biden Autopen

U.S. President Donald Trump has inaugurated a new “Presidential Walk of Fame” outside the West Wing of the White House. This initiative features a collection of black-and-white portraits of past presidents, framed in gold, along the Colonnade. Notably, the image representing current President Joe Biden is not a traditional portrait but a photograph of an autopen, a device used to replicate signatures.
The announcement was made by special assistant to the president and communications adviser, Margo Martin, who shared details in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on August 16, 2023. The post included a video showcasing the new display. Trump previously hinted at this unconventional representation of Biden, stating in an interview with The Daily Caller that not all presidents would be treated equally. When asked about a portrait of Biden, he remarked, “We’ll put up a picture of the autopen.”
In addition to the Presidential Walk of Fame, the White House has also introduced a gold banner labeled “Presidential Walk of Fame” above brown paper squares affixed to the wall, indicating the ongoing changes in the area.
Changes to the White House Aesthetic
This latest development is part of a broader trend of renovations initiated by Trump, who has previously relocated portraits of notable figures, such as former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, and even replaced a portrait of former First Lady Hillary Clinton with one of himself.
Earlier this summer, Trump began revamping the White House Rose Garden, a space that has undergone various transformations over the years. The renovation includes the installation of marble and stone tiles, new lighting, and sound systems designed for hosting events. This modernized area, often referred to as the “Rose Garden Club,” is inspired by Trump’s own residence at Mar-a-Lago, where he enjoys outdoor dining during weekends away from the capital.
As these changes unfold, they reflect Trump’s distinctive approach to the White House, marking his tenure with a blend of personal flair and political statement. The Presidential Walk of Fame adds another layer to this evolving narrative, illustrating the ongoing dialogue surrounding presidential legacies in the heart of American politics.
