Canada Border Services Agency Kiosk Outage Delays Travelers at Airports

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is currently experiencing a significant outage affecting its primary inspection kiosks at several airports, leading to delays for travelers. The agency announced the service interruption in a social media post on September 29, 2025, and is actively working to resolve the issue.
Passengers at airports including **Toronto Pearson International Airport**, **Montreal Trudeau International Airport**, and **Calgary International Airport** have reported longer-than-normal wait times at customs. This disruption has resulted in operational challenges, particularly at Toronto Pearson, where one traveler on a **WestJet** flight indicated that they remained on the plane for over an hour after landing due to the backlog at customs.
In response to the situation, WestJet confirmed that customs processing at Toronto Pearson is at full capacity, leading to a pause in deplaning until sufficient space becomes available. The airport authorities have cautioned travelers to anticipate extended wait times at passport kiosks located in **Terminals 1 and 3** as the CBSA works to restore full functionality.
Minister of Transport **Steven MacKinnon** stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation and advised travelers to verify their flight statuses through their airline’s website prior to arriving at the airport. This reminder underscores the importance of staying informed during this service disruption.
The CBSA’s commitment to resolving the issue is ongoing, with updates provided to affected travelers as they become available. The agency’s proactive communication aims to mitigate the impact of this outage on international travel and maintain operational efficiency at Canadian airports.
