Community Celebrates Life of Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Oben

Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Oben passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at Extendicare Maple View. She was 77 years old and is remembered fondly as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Jackie was the beloved wife of the late Jim Oben, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Her family, including her sons Tom (Mary) and Tim (Donna), filled her life with love and joy until her final moments.

Jackie’s legacy extends beyond her immediate family. She was a proud grandmother to Kathy (Joe), Melanie (Andrew), Sara (Ryan), and her cherished grandson Jake. As a great grandmother, she took immense joy in her two great-granddaughters, Leah and Hailey. Her family expressed heartfelt gratitude towards her dear friend Denise, whose weekly visits provided comfort and companionship during her later years.

Jackie’s Impact and Legacy

Known affectionately as “the license bureau lady,” Jackie dedicated herself to her career, continuing to work diligently until the age of 77. Her commitment to her profession was matched by her passion for family traditions. Jackie was the heart of every holiday celebration, ensuring that each occasion was filled with magic and warmth. Her efforts to spoil her grandchildren created cherished memories that will resonate through generations.

Her family emphasized that the traditions she established will continue to bring laughter and joy, keeping her spirit alive in their hearts. They find solace in the belief that Jackie has been reunited with her beloved husband, Jimmy, who preceded her in death.

In accordance with Jackie’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family graveside service will be held.
