Ottawa Family Donates $95K to Support Local Nonprofits

A farming family from the Ottawa area has made a significant contribution to local charities through a generous donation to the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation (SRCCF). The family, who wishes to remain anonymous, has established the Seventh Generation Community Support Fund with an initial donation of $95,000. This fund aims to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that hold importance to the family and their legacy.
The fund pays tribute to Joseph Aubry, who emigrated from France to Waltham Township in the 1840s. Aubry is remembered not only for his work in agriculture but also for his entrepreneurial spirit as he bottled and sold seltzer water in Ottawa. The establishment of this fund reflects the family’s commitment to philanthropy and community support.
A unique aspect of this initiative is the family’s intention to involve future generations in the decision-making process. The donor plans to include his children and grandchildren in selecting grant recipients, ensuring that the family’s dedication to local philanthropy continues into the future.
Pamela Beckett, founder of the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm regarding this partnership. “We are delighted he has chosen the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation as his partner in philanthropy,” she stated. “And it is significant that he will involve his family in choosing grant recipients. That will ensure his fund will benefit Starved Rock Country forever.”
The creation of the Seventh Generation Community Support Fund is a testament to the enduring impact of family legacies in promoting community welfare. With this initiative, the Ottawa-area family not only honors their heritage but also actively invests in the betterment of their community, paving the way for continued support for local nonprofits.
