Graves-Hume Library Unveils Exciting October Events for Tweens

The Graves-Hume Public Library in Mendota has announced a series of engaging activities throughout October specifically tailored for local middle school students, often referred to as “tweens.” These programs are designed for children in grades five through eight and aim to foster creativity, community, and a love for reading.
Among the offerings this month are the Tweens Read Book Club, video game events, and hands-on workshops. The library’s schedule is packed with activities that cater to a variety of interests, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
October Lineup of Events
The events kick off on October 14 with the Tweens Read Book Club, set for 18:00. Participants will dive into the first chapter of an award-winning chapter book, complete with engaging discussions and snacks to enhance the experience.
On October 17, the library will host a screening of the popular horror film Five Nights at Freddy’s at 16:00. This event invites fans of the video game series to enjoy an afternoon of thrilling entertainment.
For those who prefer interactive fun, the Video Game Night on October 22 at 18:00 welcomes both tweens and teens. Participants can enjoy a range of games on platforms such as Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, with snacks provided to keep energy levels high.
The month concludes with a Potion Making Workshop on October 27 at 18:00. This creative session allows tweens to craft their own magical potions, encouraging imagination and hands-on learning.
