Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic School Board Appoints New Leaders
The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board has appointed its leadership team for the upcoming year during its inaugural meeting held on Tuesday. The Board of Trustees unanimously selected Brian Evoy as Chair and Joanne Belanger as Vice-Chair. Shawn Murphy will serve as Chair of the Finance and Operations Committee.
In his acceptance speech, Brian Evoy expressed enthusiasm for the work ahead, particularly the launch of the 2025–2030 Multi-Year Strategic Plan. He emphasized the importance of enhancing educational programs, expanding mental health resources, and maintaining the safety and accessibility of newly constructed facilities. Evoy stated, “Building on the foundation of my first term as Chair, I am enthusiastic about the work before us. Our commitment to equity and inclusion will continue to guide us, ensuring that every student is empowered to achieve their full potential through faith and service.”
The meeting also featured the presentation of the 2025 Director’s Annual Report by David DeSantis, Director of Education. This report showcases the achievements of the school board over the past year and reflects the growth in student achievement, faith formation, and the leadership capacities that support the board’s mission.
DeSantis highlighted the significance of the report as he prepares for his retirement in January 2025. “I do so with immense pride in what we have accomplished together,” he remarked. “May it stand as a testament to our shared purposes and a reminder that, in all things, we build faith-filled learning communities where each member is loved, inspired, and successful.”
The inaugural meeting was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, the senior administration team, and other guests, including Father Tim Harrison, who offered his support for the Board’s initiatives.
For more details, the complete Director’s Annual Report is available online, highlighting the school board’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment. The new leadership aims to build on the successes of previous years while addressing the evolving needs of its student body.
