In addition to the speaker series, the BU Brass Ensemble will perform a Christmas concert tonight at 19:30 in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. Following that, on Wednesday, the BU Concert Choir and the BU Chorale will take the stage at Knox United Church, starting at 19:30. The week will culminate with the BU Piano Ensemble’s fall-term finale on Thursday at 16:30, also at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. The Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art is also showcasing student visual art this week, featuring works from four different courses. The gallery is open from 12:30 to 16:30 from Wednesday to Saturday, providing an excellent opportunity to appreciate emerging talent.

Brandon University Theatre will present the dark comedy with music, “Mother Courage and her Children,” from Wednesday to Sunday. Showtimes are set for 19:00 from Wednesday to Saturday, with a matinee at 14:00 on Sunday. Further ticket information is available at Events.BrandonU.ca.

Assiniboine College Celebrates Storytelling and Community

At Assiniboine College, the annual Storytelling Week is taking place from December 1 to 5. This event invites attendees to hear personal stories from elders and speakers, offering insight into their journeys and the cultural significance of storytelling. The sessions are scheduled for in-person attendance and aim to foster community connections.

Although this year’s Holiday Buffet event is sold out, Assiniboine College encourages individuals to keep an eye on future events from the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts, which can be tracked at assiniboine.net/events.

On December 4, the college will hold a Trades Program Mixer from 16:00 to 17:30 at Mazer Group Main Street in the Len Evans Centre for Trades & Technology. This mixer presents an opportunity for students and industry professionals to connect, share insights, and explore career paths.

The college’s Alumni Association is also preparing for its annual Retiree Holiday Coffee Party, scheduled for December 10 at 09:30 at the Victoria Avenue East campus. This gathering aims to celebrate the contributions of retired members of the college community.

These events highlight the commitment of both Brandon University and Assiniboine College to enrich the educational and cultural landscape of their communities.
