The opening of the Wild Winter Wednesday program season on December 3 will feature a presentation by Hannah Pannell Edfors, who will discuss the history of Beaver Island. This change follows a medical emergency involving scheduled speaker Dana Starkell, prompting the Volunteer Education Committee to seek a replacement.

Edfors, a naturalist with Clinton County Conservation, brings a wealth of knowledge and a personal connection to the outdoors. A native of Fulton, she has spent considerable time exploring the region’s natural landscapes, which has greatly influenced her passion for the environment.

Doors to the Windmill Cultural Center will open at 8:30 a.m., offering attendees coffee, hot cider, and a selection of mill treats. The program is set to commence around 9:15 a.m., and it is free and open to the public. The venue is fully accessible for individuals with disabilities.

In the event of inclement weather, if River Bend Schools are closed, delayed, or conducting remote learning, the Wild Winter Wednesday program will be canceled. Attendees are encouraged to check local announcements regarding school operations before heading to the event.

This season’s program promises to engage community members with informative content about local history and conservation efforts.
