Kishwaukee College Launches Five Spring Training Programs
Kishwaukee College has announced the introduction of five short-term training programs scheduled for the spring 2026 semester. These programs are designed to equip students with the skills necessary to launch new careers or enhance existing ones. Classes will be offered in person, online, and in hybrid formats, providing flexibility for various learning preferences.
The training programs range from 11 to 15 weeks and cover diverse fields, including appliance repair, dental assistance, pharmacy, real estate, and sterile processing. Participants will need internet access and a computer to engage in online components. Some courses also incorporate externships or clinical experiences, allowing students to gain practical skills in real-world settings.
Overview of Training Programs
The following are the key offerings for spring 2026:
Appliance Repair Technician: This program runs from January 13 to April 23, with in-person classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:30 to 21:30 at Kishwaukee College. Students will learn to assist clients with household appliance installations, repairs, and troubleshooting.
Dental Assistant: Scheduled from January 12 to April 10, this course includes online lectures complemented by in-person practice sessions at a local dental office. Classes will meet on Tuesdays from 18:00 to 21:00. Dental assistants play a crucial role in providing preventive and corrective dental care alongside dental hygienists and dentists.
Pharmacy Technician: This fully online program will take place from January 12 to April 24. Pharmacy technicians support pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications and performing various tasks within a pharmacy environment. Funding options are available through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
Real Estate Broker Pre-License: Beginning on January 13 and concluding on March 5, this online program will cover the essential duties of real estate brokers, including marketing homes and ensuring legal transactions. Classes will be conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:00 to 21:00.
Sterile Processing Technician: This course runs from January 12 to April 17 and will be delivered online. Students will learn to support healthcare facilities by cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing medical devices and supplies critical for patient care, particularly during surgical procedures.
