MADD Canada Launches Sober Driving Program for Saskatchewan Students
MADD Canada has announced the launch of its 2025-2026 School Program in Saskatchewan, collaborating with the Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) and the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA). The initiative aims to deliver critical messages about sober driving to students from Grades 7 to 12. A special screening event will take place at F.W. Johnson Collegiate in Regina, focusing on the tragic consequences of impaired driving.
The need for this program arises from alarming statistics indicating that road crashes are a leading cause of death among Canadian youth. Alcohol, cannabis, and other drugs are involved in more than half of these incidents. In response, MADD Canada, along with its partners, is committed to empowering students to make safe choices for themselves and their communities.
Engaging Presentations and Resources
The 60-minute presentations will feature a selection of dramatic short films—five in English and four in French—that depict the risks associated with impaired driving. These films are designed to provoke thought and discussion among students, along with an interactive quiz and testimonials from victims of impaired driving incidents. Schools can choose the presentation format that suits them best, whether it be a traditional assembly, a classroom setting, or a virtual format.
Following the screenings, each participating school will receive an Educators’ Guide and a School Kit. These resources are intended to help teachers extend the conversation about sober driving throughout the academic year.
Media representatives are invited to attend the screening and engage with students, staff, and guests. This collaborative effort underscores a commitment to reducing impaired driving incidents and fostering a culture of safety within schools.
