Northern Illinois CPR & First Aid Donates to Highland Elementary

Northern Illinois CPR & First Aid has made a significant financial contribution to Highland Elementary School in a move aimed at enhancing student playtime. The announcement, made on October 14, 2023, outlines plans to purchase new equipment for the school’s playground, focusing on promoting physical activity during recess.
Enhancing Playtime Through Donations
The donation will fund a variety of engaging playground supplies, including sports balls, cornhole boards, and new soccer goals. These materials are specifically selected to encourage cooperative games, creativity, and active play among students. Zach Oltmanns, owner of Northern Illinois CPR & First Aid, emphasized the importance of play in child development, stating, “While our primary focus is on safety, we also understand the critical role that play has in a child’s development.”
Oltmanns expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting, “We are thrilled to support Highland Elementary in providing more opportunities for their students to be active, collaborate, and have fun. It’s a joy to know our contribution will lead to more smiles and healthier recess periods.” This initiative not only enhances the recess experience but also aims to reduce congestion on fixed playground structures.
The Impact of the Donation
School principal Jacque Buchanan praised the donation, highlighting its significance: “We are incredibly thankful for this thoughtful donation from Northern Illinois CPR & First Aid. Recess is a vital part of the school day. Having a variety of engaging equipment means every student, regardless of their interests, will find something fun to do.”
Buchanan believes that this gift will substantially enrich the outdoor experience for students, allowing them to engage in a wider array of activities during their break time. With the funds available, Highland Elementary plans to purchase the new equipment promptly and integrate it into the school’s recess activities in the coming weeks, ensuring that students can enjoy these new resources as soon as possible.
This donation reflects a growing recognition of the importance of physical activity in schools and its role in fostering overall well-being among children. Through such contributions, organizations like Northern Illinois CPR & First Aid play a crucial role in supporting educational institutions and enhancing the environments in which students learn and play.
