Prince Albert Catholic School Division Maintains Steady Enrolment

Enrolment numbers in the Prince Albert Catholic School Division have shown stability compared to the previous year, according to the division’s enrolment report dated September 30, 2023. During a board meeting on September 8, Education Director Lorel Trumier presented these findings, revealing that the total number of students attending Catholic schools in the division stands at 3,160, slightly down from 3,198 in 2022.

Trumier expressed satisfaction with the enrolment figures, stating, “The numbers are coming in as we projected.” She highlighted increases at Ecole St. Anne and a minor uptick at Ecole St. Mary High School. Overall, she conveyed optimism for the academic year, saying, “We are happy about that. I think we’re going to have a great year.”

The enrolment report includes 21 homeschooled students who remain associated with the Prince Albert Catholic School Division through the Ministry of Education. Notably, there are 181 students enrolled in pre-kindergarten programs and 179 in kindergarten. The division’s total English enrolment is 2,958, while French enrolment comprises 863 students, maintaining a consistent 30 percent representation of French Immersion students across the division.

School-Specific Enrolment Insights

At Ecole St. Anne, enrolment has risen to 643 students, up from 612 the previous year, with 326 in English and 317 in French. Meanwhile, Ecole St. Mary High School reported a total of 1,054 students, with 810 in English and 244 in French, a slight increase from last year’s 1,048 students.

Other schools within the division also reported their enrolment figures. St. Michael School has 180 students registered in English and 12 in Michif. St. John School has 349 students, St. Francis School has 300, St. Catherine School has 119, and Holy Cross has 301 students enrolled.

The figures from September 30, 2023, indicate a total enrolment of 3,070 in the Catholic Division, compared to 2,982 in 2022. These enrolment statistics are critical since they inform funding allocations from the Ministry of Education for each division.
