Rochelle High School Foundation Hosts Exciting Trivia Night

The Rochelle Township High School Education Foundation is set to host its second annual trivia night on October 15, 2023, at the Rochelle VFW Post 3878. The event will begin at 18:30, with doors opening at 17:30. Teams of up to six participants can register for a fee of $150, with an array of prizes donated by local businesses available to be won.
The trivia night aims to support the foundation’s mission to enhance educational opportunities for Rochelle Township High School (RTHS) students. Free snacks will be provided, and attendees will have the chance to enjoy drinks from the VFW bar. More details and registration information can be accessed via the RTHS Education Foundation’s Facebook page. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for interested parties.
Supporting Educational Growth
The RTHS Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been enriching the educational environment for students for the past 27 years. Recent grants have funded various initiatives, including drones for technology classes, classroom flexible seating, and resources for extracurricular activities such as Dungeons & Dragons supplies and equipment for the marching band. This year, the foundation aims to raise $15,000 to continue its support for students beyond normal tax funding.
Representatives from the foundation, including Jodie Hart and Jillian Wise, recently shared insights about the trivia night during a meeting with the Rochelle Rotary Club. Wise emphasized the importance of community support, stating, “We can only provide the things we provide for students through our fundraisers. We also accept donations at any time, big or small.” The trivia night promises to be both enjoyable and impactful, with all proceeds directed back to student programs.
Real Impact on Students
The benefits of the RTHS Education Foundation extend beyond financial support. RTHS teacher Deanna Jacobs highlighted how the foundation has positively influenced her students’ learning experiences. “We’ve worked with drones for the past three years, and just over 180 students have gotten certified to be recreational drone pilots,” Jacobs noted. Students learn not only how to operate drones but also about FAA regulations and potential career paths involving drone technology.
The event will be emceed by Nelson Baker, the RTHS wrestling coach, who is expected to bring an engaging atmosphere to the trivia night. Wise reiterated that every contribution helps, referencing a specific grant that costs only $100 but can significantly benefit a school organization for another year.
“This trivia event is all for fun,” Wise added. “Come out and have some fun and support the kids in town. It’s all for the students. These grants make a world of difference for them.” The foundation invites the community to participate, sponsor, and contribute to ensure that students continue to receive enriching educational experiences.
