State Senator Loughran Cappel Launches Forums for Teachers and Students

State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel is set to host a series of monthly forums aimed at engaging educators and high school students in her district. These initiatives, designed to foster dialogue and collaboration, will provide teachers with a platform to express their concerns and suggestions while enabling students to share their perspectives on local issues.
The first Teacher Forum of the academic year will take place on September 23, 2023, at 16:15 at Loughran Cappel’s district office located at 20660 Caton Farm Road, Unit D, Crest Hill. Emphasizing the importance of educator feedback, Loughran Cappel stated, “I know how important it is to hear concerns and feedback from teachers around the district. My goal with my monthly Teacher Forums is to create a space where local educators can voice their concerns and help create real solutions for their communities.”
These forums are intended to address the challenges teachers face in the classroom and ensure they have access to the necessary tools and resources to effectively educate their students. In doing so, Loughran Cappel aims to enhance the educational landscape within the community and support students in achieving their goals.
In addition to the Teacher Forums, Loughran Cappel will kick off her 2025-26 Youth Advisory Board in October. This board will consist of local high school students who will meet monthly to discuss issues pertinent to their generation. Loughran Cappel expressed the value of student input, saying, “Students are the future leaders of our world, so gathering their input is invaluable, and in the past has produced great pieces of legislation.”
The inaugural meeting of the Youth Advisory Board is scheduled for October 18, 2023, at 10:00 at the same district office in Crest Hill. This initiative aims to empower young people, encouraging their participation in state governance while allowing them to voice their thoughts and concerns.
To participate in either the Teacher Forum or the Youth Advisory Board meeting, interested individuals can contact Loughran Cappel’s district office at 815-267-6119. These events highlight Loughran Cappel’s commitment to fostering community engagement and addressing the needs of both educators and students within her district.
