Todd Mondor is no longer serving as the president and vice-chancellor of the University of Winnipeg, with the change effective immediately. The decision was confirmed by Michelle Pereira, chair of the university’s board of regents, in a statement released on Tuesday. Mondor had been appointed to the role in April 2022 and was originally set to hold the position until June 30, 2027.

In her statement, Pereira emphasized that the board’s decision followed “careful consideration and extensive deliberation.” She noted that the board believes it is in the best interest of both the university and the broader community to refocus leadership as the institution works to implement its recently announced strategic plan.

Pavlina Radia, who serves as provost and vice-president of academics, will assume the role of interim president while the board seeks a permanent replacement. Pereira indicated that the process to identify an interim leader has already begun.

The University of Winnipeg, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, has a diverse student body and offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The board’s decision comes at a time when the university is looking to enhance its strategic initiatives and adapt to the evolving educational landscape.

As the search for Mondor’s successor progresses, the board aims to ensure a smooth transition in leadership. The community members and stakeholders of the university will be closely observing how these changes affect the institution’s direction and objectives in the coming months.
