Aesthetic Medicine Market Projected to Reach USD 63.20 Billion by 2032

The aesthetic medicine market is poised to grow significantly, with projections indicating it will reach USD 63.20 billion by 2032. This growth is largely driven by increasing consumer demand for minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, as highlighted by data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). In 2023, minimally invasive treatments surged by 7%, outpacing the growth of surgical procedures by 2%.
Popular minimally invasive treatments include neuromodulator injections and hyaluronic acid fillers, with nearly 9 million and 5 million procedures performed, respectively. Skin-focused treatments are also gaining popularity. For instance, chemical peels saw over 1 million procedures, marking an 8% increase year-over-year. Laser hair removal rose 9%, totaling over 800,000 procedures, reflecting a growing preference for long-term cosmetic solutions. Additionally, laser skin resurfacing exceeded 1 million treatments in 2023, a 4% increase compared to the previous year.
In March 2025, Alma Lasers, a subsidiary of Sisram Medical, launched the Alma Harmony platform. This next-generation aesthetics system incorporates five advanced technologies, including Q-Switch Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), providing a comprehensive treatment suite suitable for diverse skin types and indications. While aesthetic medicine generally carries low risks, successful outcomes hinge on treatments conducted by qualified professionals. Complications can arise from inadequate aftercare, improper techniques, or individual patient responses. Common side effects reported include bruising, inflammation, and allergic reactions, which can lead to patient dissatisfaction.
Market Segmentation and Regional Insights
The aesthetic medicine market is categorized into surgical and non-surgical procedures. The surgical segment accounted for the largest share in 2024, with breast augmentation being one of the most prevalent procedures—approximately 300,000 surgeries were performed by ASPS members in 2022. Most patients are between the ages of 18 and 34 (54.6%) and 35 to 50 (35.6%), with an impressive 98% patient satisfaction rate reported.
In terms of regional market dynamics, North America held the largest market share in 2024, driven by consumer demand for minimally invasive procedures and advancements in aesthetic technologies. Worldwide, an estimated 35 million cosmetic procedures were performed in 2023, reflecting a 3.4% increase over the previous year. In the U.S. alone, approximately 6.2 million procedures took place, with liposuction remaining the most sought-after surgical treatment at 347,782 operations, up 7% year-over-year.
Competitive Landscape and Key Developments
The aesthetic medicine market features a fragmented structure, with numerous competitors holding substantial market shares. Major players include Allergan Aesthetics, Merz Pharma, Galderma, and Candela Corporation, among others.
Recent strategic moves highlight the competitive nature of the market. In April 2025, Galderma launched Sculptra in China, a regenerative biostimulator utilizing a unique poly-L-lactic acid formulation, reinforcing the company’s focus on geographic expansion and product innovation. Similarly, Ascend Plastic Surgery Partners announced a collaboration with Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery in January 2025. This partnership expands Ascend’s presence in Florida, adding six surgeons and new locations, thereby enhancing patient access to advanced cosmetic services across the United States.
As the aesthetic medicine market continues to evolve, ongoing advancements in technology and an increasing consumer appetite for cosmetic improvements are likely to drive further growth well into the next decade.
