Barrie Cyclist Dylan Pearce Aims to Break Records for Mental Health
An ultra-endurance cyclist from Barrie, Ontario, is set to embark on a series of ambitious challenges aimed at raising awareness for mental health. Dylan Pearce’s initiative, dubbed the “Ride Beyond Limits” campaign, focuses on “breaking records to break stigma.” Through this campaign, Pearce aims to use his cycling achievements as a platform to support mental health initiatives.
On his GoFundMe page, Pearce shares how cycling has transformed from a mere hobby into a vital part of his life and recovery. He credits the sport with providing him structure, hope, and purpose during difficult times. “Cycling gave me structure, hope and purpose when I needed it most,” Pearce stated. His past experiences with mental health challenges, combined with therapy and counseling, have fueled his desire to give back.
Over the last year, Pearce has accomplished significant feats, which include bikepacking 1,300 kilometres around Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula and finishing first in his inaugural ultra long-distance race. He also cycled 825 kilometres around Lake Ontario in just 28 hours without sleep. These experiences have not only tested his physical limits but also reinforced his commitment to mental health advocacy.
Upcoming Challenges in 2026
In 2026, Pearce plans to undertake a series of challenges designed to further his campaign. While specific details of these challenges are yet to be revealed, he emphasizes that every kilometre he rides will symbolically honor those who face their own battles.
All proceeds raised through his fundraising efforts will be directed to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Pearce has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $7,500. He believes that each contribution will help provide necessary support and resources to those in need.
“My aim is to raise funds and awareness for those still climbing their own invisible hills,” Pearce explained. He hopes that his efforts will inspire others to seek help and to understand the importance of mental health support.
As he prepares for these challenges, Pearce invites the community to join him in his mission, whether through donations or participation in the events. Through his journey, he aims to foster a conversation around mental health, encouraging individuals to share their stories and support one another.
Dylan Pearce’s determination to combine his passion for cycling with mental health advocacy serves as a powerful reminder of the strength it takes to persevere, both on the road and in life.
