She returned to CTV to co-host the popular morning program Canada AM and continued her work on the CTV News Channel.
Thomson’s passing was confirmed on Sunday morning, marking the end of a life dedicated to journalism and public service. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, she became a passionate advocate for breast cancer awareness, using her platform to educate and inform the public about the disease. In a heartfelt tribute on social media, Canadian TV personality Leslie Roberts shared memories of his time co-anchoring with Thomson at Global News. He wrote, “Thinking of the family of Beverly Thomson. Solid news anchor, mother, and friend. As my first Toronto co-anchor, she always had my back. Bev bravely fought breast cancer for over two decades. She died this morning at age 61. Rest well, Bev.”
