CFIA Recalls Pistachios in B.C. Over Salmonella Risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced a recall of specific pistachio products sold in British Columbia due to potential Salmonella contamination. This recall, issued on June 26, 2019, affects the Pistachio In-Shell Lime and Saffron, which was sold without labels, and Persian Style Pistachios with Saffron. The affected products were available in various sizes and were distributed between September 5 and 19, 2025, and August 28 to October 11, 2025, respectively.
The recall was initiated following a positive test result for Salmonella from CFIA inspections. Although no illnesses have been reported in connection to these products, the agency advises consumers to exercise caution.
Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled pistachios should refrain from consuming them. The CFIA recommends returning the products to the point of sale or disposing of them safely. Additionally, individuals who suspect they may have fallen ill after consuming these pistachios are urged to consult their healthcare provider for guidance.
Product Details and Safety Measures
The recalled products include:
- Pistachio In-Shell Lime and Saffron (no label applied)
- Persian Style Pistachios with Saffron (product codes #7081 and #7080)
Consumers can find more information about the recall on the CFIA website, where updates and safety-related information are regularly posted. The agency emphasizes the importance of food safety and encourages consumers to remain vigilant about the products they purchase.
The CFIA, along with health authorities, continues to monitor the situation to ensure public safety and mitigate any potential health risks associated with these products.
