Emblem Cannabis Recalls Infused Pre-Rolls Over Labelling Errors

Emblem Cannabis Corporation has initiated a recall of a specific lot of its Divvy Island Rush Infused Pre-Rolls due to significant labelling errors. According to a notice from Health Canada, the affected product was mistakenly labeled, indicating it contained infused cannabis pre-rolls instead of the actual dried cannabis pre-rolls.
The recall affects pre-rolls with incorrect labels that misrepresent the brand name, cannabinoid values, list of ingredients, cannabis class, and net weight. Specifically, the recalled labels show higher values for THC, total THC, CBD, and total CBD than what the product actually contains. This discrepancy may lead to consumer confusion regarding the potency and composition of the product.
The affected pre-rolls were distributed in Ontario through the Ontario Cannabis Store and sold at authorized cannabis retailers from June 19 to August 14, 2023. During this period, a total of 4,152 units of the recalled product were sold. Emblem Cannabis Corporation received three complaints related to this recall, although none reported adverse reactions.
Health Canada is advising consumers to verify whether their purchase is among those impacted by the recall. The specific details of the recalled pre-rolls include product numbers 1389 and packaging indicating THC levels of 256.0 mg/g and total THC levels of 370.0 mg/g. The product’s actual values are significantly lower, with THC at 67.5 mg/g and total THC at 244.0 mg/g.
To ensure consumer safety, Health Canada encourages individuals who have purchased these pre-rolls to report any health or safety concerns. Consumers can submit complaints through the appropriate online platforms provided by the agency.
As the cannabis industry continues to grow, proper labelling remains a critical issue. The mislabelling of products not only affects consumer trust but also highlights the importance of regulatory oversight in ensuring product safety and accuracy.
