Fraser Valley Walk of Hope Raises Funds for Ovarian Cancer Research

The Fraser Valley Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope is set to take place in Abbotsford on September 7, 2023, at Mill Lake Park. This annual event aims to raise funds for ovarian cancer research and support, with the opening ceremony scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and the walk commencing at 10 a.m.. Participants will have the option to walk around the lake once for a distance of 2.5 kilometres or twice to cover a total of 5 kilometres.
The walk, organized by Ovarian Cancer Canada, is the only event in Canada dedicated solely to improving outcomes for those living with and at risk of ovarian cancer. This family-friendly initiative coincides with Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place in September. The event not only emphasizes the importance of raising awareness but also aims to generate vital funds for research, education, and resources related to ovarian cancer.
Participants are encouraged to show their support by wearing teal outfits or costumes, symbolizing ovarian cancer awareness. Prizes will be awarded for both individual and team spirit, with closing remarks and prize announcements planned for around 11:30 a.m.
Ovarian cancer remains the most fatal cancer affecting women. The Fraser Valley Walk of Hope has, to date, raised over $34 million for this critical cause. These funds have played an essential role in enhancing research efforts and improving the lives of those affected by the disease.
For those interested in participating, registration is open online, offering an opportunity to join a community dedicated to making a difference in the fight against ovarian cancer. The walk not only serves as a platform for fundraising but also fosters a sense of unity and hope among participants and supporters alike.
