Morris Hospital Expands Gastroenterology Services in Ottawa
Morris Hospital has announced the addition of gastroenterology services at its Ottawa location, enhancing healthcare options for residents. This expansion, effective immediately, will provide specialized care for a variety of digestive health issues.
Stephanie Mickley, an advanced practice registered nurse with over 27 years of nursing experience, will be seeing patients at 1300 Starfire Drive. Mickley has dedicated 14 years to gastroenterology and is a certified nurse practitioner since 2020. She is equipped to address a wide range of digestive concerns, including abdominal pain, heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, irregular bowel movements, and hemorrhoids.
Comprehensive Care for Complex Conditions
Mickley also specializes in managing more complex gastrointestinal conditions such as Barrett’s esophagus, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and lymphocytic colitis. She emphasizes the importance of open communication regarding digestive health issues, stating, “I want people to know that there is so much we can do to help with gastrointestinal and digestive issues. I understand people can feel shy when discussing symptoms with a provider, but there’s no reason to feel embarrassed. We ask questions to help get us closer to addressing the symptoms and helping patients return to normal.”
In addition to Mickley, the gastroenterology team at Morris Hospital includes Dr. Afreen Hyder, a gastroenterologist who will also provide care at the Ottawa site. Patients seeking appointments can contact the hospital directly at 815-941-9320 for scheduling in either Morris or Ottawa.
For further information on the services offered, individuals can visit the official website at morrishospital.org/gastro. The introduction of these gastroenterology services marks a significant step in improving access to specialized medical care for the Ottawa community.
