Morris Hospital Hosts Heart-Healthy Diet Program on Sept. 9
Morris Hospital, in collaboration with the Morris Hospital YMCA, is organizing a heart-healthy diet program aimed at promoting healthier eating habits within the community. Scheduled for September 9, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., this event will take place at 2200 W. Dupont Ave. and is open to all members of the public, with no requirement for YMCA membership to participate.
The program features a presentation by a registered dietitian from Morris Hospital, who will discuss the topic of “Low Sodium for Disease Management.” Participants will learn how a low-sodium diet can aid in managing various health conditions, including chronic kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart failure, and cirrhosis.
In addition to educational content, attendees will have the opportunity to watch a live low-sodium meal preparation demonstration, showcasing practical ways to incorporate these dietary changes into everyday life. This interactive component is designed to equip participants with the skills needed to make healthier food choices.
To register for the heart-healthy diet program, interested individuals can contact the Wellness Manager at 815-705-7358 or visit the Morris Hospital website at morrishospital.org/events, where they can select the “nutrition” category for more information.
This initiative reflects Morris Hospital’s commitment to enhancing community health through education and accessible resources, encouraging individuals to take proactive steps towards better health outcomes. By focusing on dietary management, the program aims to empower participants with knowledge that can lead to substantial improvements in their overall health and well-being.
