Thousands Set to Join Terry Fox Runs for Cancer Research on Sept. 14

Canadians across the country will unite this weekend for the annual Terry Fox Run, an event dedicated to raising funds for cancer research. Taking place on September 14, 2025, participants will run, walk, bike, and rollerblade in various communities, contributing to a cause that has inspired many since its inception.
In Lethbridge, registration will begin at the Legacy Park Picnic Shelter at 10:00 a.m., followed by the start of the run at 11:00 a.m.. Organizer Austin Moloughney emphasized the importance of this event not only for fun but also for its fundraising potential. “Every dollar will be donated as we are a zero-dollar campaign, so every single dollar raised goes to the Terry Fox Foundation,” he stated.
Participants in Lethbridge can choose from routes of one, two, and five kilometres, all designed to accommodate various accessibility levels. In a nod to the event’s history, Moloughney mentioned that attendees will encounter a six-foot cutout of Terry Fox, along with a t-shirt from the original run in 1980.
Last year’s event in Lethbridge was a significant success, raising nearly $11,000 and surpassing the initial goal of $7,200. This year, the target has been set at $7,800, and early fundraising efforts have already collected over $5,100.
The Terry Fox Run has become a national symbol of hope and determination, with events scheduled in numerous locations throughout southern Alberta. Participants are encouraged to register early and prepare for a day of community spirit and support for cancer research.
As the weekend approaches, excitement builds among local communities, reminding everyone of Terry Fox’s legacy and the ongoing battle against cancer.
