Toronto and Ottawa Couple to Celebrate Wedding at CNE

The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is set to host a unique wedding ceremony in its iconic Midway area, marking a special moment in the event’s history. Jacqueline, a resident of Toronto, and Patrick from Ottawa, will exchange vows in front of the SuperWheel on August 23, 2025, after being selected from over 400 submissions from couples across Ontario.
This event is part of the CNE’s initiative to celebrate love and community. According to Mark Holland, CEO of the CNE, the decision to choose Jacqueline and Patrick was influenced by their heartfelt story, which reflects the values of joy, tradition, and connection that many visitors cherish at the fair. Holland stated, “Jacqueline and Patrick’s story stood out because they embody the values of joy, tradition, family, and community connection that so many people have to the CNE.”
From Long-Distance Love to a Cherished Ceremony
Jacqueline, a lifelong attendee of the CNE, grew up with the tradition of visiting the fair with her family. She fondly recalls her childhood experiences at the event and even worked at the CNE as a teenager. When she met Patrick, their shared enthusiasm for the fairgrounds became a cornerstone of their relationship.
The couple, who have been navigating a long-distance relationship for 25 years, connected through weekend visits and summer trips to the CNE. Earlier this year, in May 2025, they officially married, but the announcement of the “Marriage on the Midway” initiative inspired them to celebrate their love once more at the fair.
Family and friends will join the couple for what organizers describe as a “one-of-a-kind celebration of love.” The CNE promises a festive atmosphere, blending the excitement of the fair with the personal joy of the couple’s commitment.
A Fairground Tradition Continues
The CNE has long been a venue for creating cherished memories, with many couples sharing their love stories rooted in the event’s history. The fair attracts visitors eager to enjoy its rides, food, and entertainment, making it a perfect backdrop for this wedding celebration.
Jacqueline and Patrick’s story resonates with many attendees who have formed connections at the CNE. As the couple prepares for their special day, they look forward to sharing this meaningful experience with their loved ones. The CNE continues to showcase the importance of tradition, community, and love, reminding all attendees of the magic that can happen at the fair.
Passes to the CNE, which runs until September 1, 2025, are still available for those wishing to partake in the festivities and witness this remarkable wedding celebration.
