Calgary’s Radio Park Set to Open with City’s Tallest Slide
 
																								
												
												
											A new attraction is set to enhance Calgary’s recreational landscape with the grand opening of Radio Park on September 20, 2025. Located in the West District, this expansive park will feature the tallest slide in the city, alongside a diverse range of recreational and entertainment options. The opening ceremony will commence at 10 a.m., followed by a day filled with family-friendly activities.
Covering over eight acres, Radio Park promises to be a destination like no other in Calgary. Visitors can look forward to a variety of amenities, including restaurants, retail spaces, and a lawn that provides scenic views of a stormwater pond. The park will also host an amphitheater for concerts and festivals, a playground featuring Calgary’s tallest slide, a skatepark, a community garden, and a dedicated dog park. Water features, such as a sprayground, a decorative fountain, and an ice skating rink for winter months, will further enhance the park’s appeal.
The grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a host of engaging activities. From 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., families can enjoy live music, dog agility demonstrations by Barkside, and soccer demonstrations with local club Wild FC. This initiative aims to transform the area into a vibrant community hub, emphasizing active recreation and leisure while effectively managing stormwater.
The development of Radio Park is a collaborative effort between Truman Development Corporation, the City of Calgary, and design firms HDR and CivicWorks. Mayor Jyoti Gondek will deliver a speech at the opening alongside Tony Trutina, the chief operating officer of Truman Development Corporation, highlighting the significance of the park for local residents.
As a year-round destination, Radio Park aims to foster community spirit and provide a recreational space that appeals to both residents of the West District and visitors from across Calgary.
