Colwood’s Sonja Bidese Named 2025 Fitness Professional of the Year

Sonja Bidese, the owner of Success Fitness in Colwood, has been recognized as the 2025 Fitness Professional of the Year by the BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA). This prestigious accolade reflects her three decades of dedication to the fitness community and her unwavering commitment to promoting health and wellness.
The award was announced during the BCRPA’s fitness conference on October 5, 2025, held in New Westminster. Bidese, a registered fitness professional and trainer for aspiring fitness leaders, has made a significant impact through her inclusive coaching and innovative programs. Her approach has inspired thousands and has made fitness accessible to individuals of all backgrounds and abilities.
“Sonja is an exemplary fitness leader who embodies the very best of our profession,” stated Katie Fenn, CEO of BCRPA. “Her commitment to excellence and inclusivity demonstrates the essential role BCRPA fitness professionals play in keeping communities across the province vital, connected, and healthy. Currently, there are approximately 2,700 BCRPA-registered fitness leaders active in British Columbia, delivering programs in various settings such as recreation centres, health clubs, and outdoor environments. Bidese’s recognition underscores the vital role fitness professionals play in fostering healthy communities throughout the province.
