He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann West (née Baker), and their four children, Catherine DeClerck (Tom Fraser), David W. West (Lori-Ann), Jennifer Lees (Gordon), and Kimberly Wright (Ron). Known affectionately as “Pop,” he was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith.
Born on May 27, 1940, David’s life was a testament to his strong Christian faith. He supported preachers, missionaries, and neighbors, demonstrating kindness and generosity to all.
His family expresses profound gratitude to those who supported them during David’s health challenges and eventual passing. The family acknowledges the contributions of relatives who traveled to visit, friends, and church members who provided comfort through prayer, conversation, and shared memories. Special thanks are also extended to the dedicated health professionals from Sault Area Hospital, Bayshore Home Health, CarePartners, and the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH), among others, who provided exceptional care.
A visitation will take place at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel on November 7, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00, followed by a Funeral Service celebrating David’s life at 12:15. Interment will occur immediately thereafter, with a time of reflection and hymn singing at the graveside.
