Geneva Church Hosts Fall Rummage Sale to Support Local Causes

The United Methodist Church of Geneva is set to host its annual fall rummage sale from October 23 to October 25, 2023. This initiative aims to support various local organizations by raising funds through the sale of gently used items. The sale will take place at the church located at 211 Hamilton Street and is expected to attract a significant number of visitors.
The rummage sale schedule includes an evening event on October 23 from 18:00 to 20:00, followed by two full days on October 24 from 09:00 to 17:00, and concluding on October 25 from 09:00 to 12:00. Attendees can browse a wide range of items, including books, furniture, high-end fashion, games, household products, jewelry, children’s items, and clothing.
On the final day of the sale, a special “Fill-A-Bag” option will be available for $10, allowing shoppers to fill a bag with as many items as they can fit. This offers a unique opportunity for bargain hunters while contributing to community support.
In addition to the rummage sale, a bake sale will be held in the church’s library, providing visitors with homemade treats. The community has shown strong support for these events in the past; during the spring rummage sale, the church raised over $20,500, which was distributed to various organizations, including TriCity Family Services, Mutual Ground, Northern Illinois Food Bank, and Lazarus House.
The funds generated from this fall event will continue to support critical services provided by these organizations, such as food assistance, shelter, and health care for those in need. The Women’s Ministry group of the United Methodist Church of Geneva has been instrumental in organizing these sales, reflecting the church’s commitment to community engagement and outreach.
As the event approaches, the church encourages community members to participate by either donating items or attending the sale to support local causes. The United Methodist Church of Geneva remains dedicated to making a positive impact through its charitable efforts, fostering a spirit of generosity and service within the community.
