The Greater Napanee Municipal Arts & Culture Awards are set to make a comeback after several years of hiatus. This initiative aims to honor individuals, organizations, and businesses that contribute significantly to the artistic and cultural vibrancy of the Greater Napanee community. The awards will celebrate nominees across five distinct categories: Emerging Artist, Excellence in Fine Arts, Excellence in Decorative & Applied Arts, Champion of the Arts, and the Legacy Award.

Mayor Richardson expressed enthusiasm about the return of the awards, stating, “It’s great to see these awards return to recognize residents that have made a significant impact in the arts and culture landscape of our community.” The awards highlight the importance of artistic expression and the role it plays in enriching community life.

Nominations for the awards are currently open and will be accepted until November 30, 2025. Interested parties can find nomination forms on the Town’s official website. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at North Fredericksburgh Hall on February 26, 2026.

The awards will recognize talents in various fields. The Emerging Artist category will spotlight new and rising creative talent. The Excellence in Fine Arts category will encompass visual arts, music, theatre, and performance, celebrating a broad range of artistic disciplines. The Excellence in Decorative & Applied Arts category will honor artisans in craft, design, and creative media.

The Champion of the Arts award will be given to those who actively promote and support local culture, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of individuals who advocate for the arts. Lastly, the Legacy Award will honor a lifetime of artistic impact, celebrating those who have left a lasting mark on the cultural landscape of the community.

The initiative is driven by the Municipal Arts & Culture Advisory Committee, which has worked diligently to bring the awards back to life. This celebration of creativity not only enhances community spirit but also showcases the diverse talents that reside within Greater Napanee.

As the community prepares for this exciting event, the return of the Greater Napanee Municipal Arts & Culture Awards stands as a testament to the resilience and creativity of its residents. The awards promise to create a platform for recognition and appreciation of the arts, fostering a deeper connection among community members.
