Joshua House Gala Celebrates Recovery Success Stories on Nov. 16
Joshua House Recovery Ministries is set to host its annual gala, “Restoring Hope Rebuilding Lives,” at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre on November 16, 2024. This event will highlight transformative stories of recovery, faith, and community, showcasing the impact of the organization on individuals’ lives.
The evening will feature performances from singer-songwriter Brennan Sinclair and harpist Alexa Reimer. Attendees can expect to hear firsthand testimonies from residents of Joshua House, including a graduate who has become a staff leader, sharing the stage with his mother, Sue. Another compelling story will come from Michael, a former resident who has successfully reconnected with his family and now operates a thriving roofing company in the Fraser Valley.
According to Jim Heuving, executive director of Joshua House, “These stories remind us that addiction isn’t a stranger’s problem – it’s right around the corner of all our lives. The damage is real, but so is the hope. At Joshua House, men find honesty, community, and the courage to rebuild their lives together.”
Joshua House currently supports over 100 men in recovery across nine residential locations in Abbotsford and Chilliwack. The largest facility, known as The Creek, accommodates 45 men and offers a multi-building environment focused on recovery and support. Established in 2004, Joshua House has evolved into one of the leading recovery facilities in the Fraser Valley.
Individual tickets for the gala are priced at $100, with tables of eight available for $600. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit housing, meals, and programs designed to assist those residing at Joshua House properties.
Local businesses, churches, and organizations are encouraged to participate as sponsors, purchase tables, or contribute door prizes for the evening. For additional details on the event, interested parties can visit the official Joshua House website at joshuahouse.ca/fundraisers/annual-gala.
This gala serves not only as a celebration of success but also as a reminder of the ongoing challenges those in recovery face, emphasizing the collective role of the community in supporting individuals on their journey toward rebuilding their lives.
