Liberal Volunteers Collect Food Donations in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound

Volunteers from the Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Liberal Riding Association will be canvassing neighborhoods in Meaford, Owen Sound, and Wiarton on Saturday, November 8, to gather non-perishable food items for local food banks. The door-to-door initiative is set to take place from 10:00 to 14:00 in selected areas of these communities.

The volunteers, who will be easily identifiable by their official identification, aim to collect a variety of food items that are essential for those in need. They will specifically seek donations of canned soups, vegetables, fruits and sauces, peanut butter, canned meat and beans, baby food and formula, pet food, feminine hygiene products, as well as diapers and infant supplies.

In a statement, volunteer Donna Gorrie emphasized the importance of community participation in this effort. She encouraged individuals who may not be visited by a volunteer to consider dropping off donations directly at their local food banks. This initiative not only addresses immediate food insecurity but also fosters a sense of community support during challenging times.

As the need for food assistance continues to rise, the Liberal Riding Association’s efforts exemplify grassroots mobilization to make a difference. Community members are urged to contribute generously to ensure that local food banks can adequately support families and individuals in need.
