Local Dog Joyfully Discovers Neighborhood Puppy Pool in Armstrong

On a sweltering summer day in Armstrong, a young pup named Lewi delighted in an unexpected treat—a children’s pool set up in a neighbor’s yard. The thoughtful gesture was accompanied by a playful sign reading, “Doggy swimming pool. Be brave. Jump in. Cool Off. Have fun.” Lewi, a six-month-old husky shepherd cross, wasted no time diving into the refreshing water.
Becky Mason, Lewi’s owner, shared the heartwarming experience that unfolded on August 27, 2023. “Lots of people leave water out for passing pups or even carry treats to share, but a mini dog pool for pups to cool off is next-level sweetness,” Mason remarked. Her enthusiasm for this community gesture reflects the spirit of kindness that has welcomed her since moving to Armstrong from the Lower Mainland earlier this year.
Mason is particularly grateful for the community’s warmth. “Walking him around Armstrong has been such a joy; everyone here is so welcoming,” she said. Lewi, a rescue from the Saskatchewan fires, has been with Mason for two months and is rapidly adapting to his new environment.
The day at the puppy pool marked a memorable moment for both Mason and Lewi. The young dog exhibited a love for water, a trait Mason discovered when she took him paddleboarding for the first time this summer. “Seeing Lewi jump in and out of the neighbor’s pool was an absolute delight,” she added.
This kind act by a neighbor not only provided joy to Lewi but also reinforced Mason’s feeling of belonging in her new home. “It’s these small, thoughtful touches that make us feel at home and remind us what a beautiful, caring community this is,” Mason said. “Strangers go out of their way to look after one another. It honestly makes my heart so full.”
Such gestures highlight the importance of community spirit and the connections formed through simple acts of kindness. For Mason, these experiences are more than just a warm welcome; they contribute significantly to her family’s sense of belonging in Armstrong.
As the summer continues, both Mason and Lewi look forward to more adventures in their new community, celebrating the joy that comes from shared happiness and kindness among neighbors.
