London Retiree Wins $1 Million Lottery, Plans to Spread Cheer
A London, Ontario retiree is celebrating a life-changing moment after winning $1 million from the Instant Millionaire Multiplier lottery game. Mary Hutton, aged 84, discovered her fortune while playing at home, marking her as the city’s newest millionaire.
According to a news release from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), Hutton has incorporated lottery games into her weekly routine. “I enjoy playing instant tickets and like to try new games when they come out,” she shared at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. The excitement surged when she revealed the final number on her ticket, prompting her to count all the zeroes and realize the magnitude of her win.
Once the reality of her victory set in, Hutton immediately reached out to her family. “I called him on the phone, and he was so happy for me,” she recalled, referring to her son. The joy of winning has inspired Hutton to think about how she can use her newfound wealth to enhance the holiday season for her loved ones and support local charities.
With Christmas approaching, Hutton is considering how to treat her family and possibly fund some home renovations. “I’m also thinking of how I can give back to charities that are meaningful to me,” she stated, reflecting on the impact her win could have beyond her immediate family.
The winning lottery ticket was purchased at a Circle K location on Wellington Road in London. As Hutton shares her plans to spread holiday cheer, her story serves as a reminder of the potential joys that come from playing the lottery responsibly.
Hutton’s win highlights the thrill of instant lottery games and the life-changing possibilities they can bring. For many, such victories may seem rare, but they offer hope and excitement to participants across Ontario. As she embarks on this new chapter, Mary Hutton is ready to embrace the opportunities her lottery win has provided.
