Matt Patershuk Releases New Album “Dog. Tiger. Horse” in Grande Prairie

Canadian musician Matt Patershuk is set to debut his sixth album, titled “Dog. Tiger. Horse.”, on September 19, 2023, in Grande Prairie. Known for his unique storytelling style, Patershuk crafts songs that explore the intricacies of life, drawing listeners into narratives that resonate on multiple levels.

His approach to music is deeply personal, often reflecting on the world around him. One of his standout tracks, “I Was So Fond of You,” illustrates this narrative depth. The song tells the story of a black Labrador retriever sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a cat belonging to a Pennsylvania governor’s wife in the 1930s. Such imaginative storytelling sets Patershuk apart in the contemporary music scene, as he combines elements of folk, blues, country, and bluegrass to create a sound he describes as “roots music.”

Patershuk’s musical journey has not always been straightforward. There was a period when he contemplated stepping away from music but ultimately found it impossible to do so. “It’s fun and it’s good. Upcoming Performances and Tour

With the release of “Dog. Tiger. Horse.” on the horizon, Patershuk has scheduled several performances to promote his new work. He will kick off his tour with a house concert in Valleyview on September 18, followed by two shows at Latitude 55 on September 19. Additional performances include a gig at Peace River Brewing on September 27 and an opening slot for the Steve Dawson Duo at the Nickelodeon Music Club in Calgary on November 1.

As he prepares for the album launch and subsequent tour, Patershuk expresses excitement about sharing his music with audiences. “It’s exhausting, but it’s pretty neat to fit in the room with four or five other people, and make something out of an odd idea you had in your bedroom,” he says, emphasizing the joy of collaboration and creation.
