Oliver Winery Manager Nominated for Prestigious BC Award

An accomplished figure in the wine industry, Janik Livera, the hospitality manager at Maverick Estate Winery in Oliver, British Columbia, has gained notable recognition. He is one of three finalists for the leadership category in the BC Food and Beverage 2025 Rise Awards. This annual event celebrates exceptional businesses, leaders, and entrepreneurs throughout the province.
Joining Livera in the final round are Jasmine Byrne from Big Mountain Food in Vancouver and Dionne Laslo-Baker of DeeBee’s Organic, based in Victoria. The BC Food and Beverage organization commended Livera for his exemplary management and staff training, which have cultivated a culture of excellence and inclusivity at the winery. This has significantly contributed to the winery’s impressive growth, achieving nearly $1 million in annual direct-to-consumer revenue.
Livera’s contributions extend beyond the winery. He also teaches at Okanagan College, where he co-develops programs aimed at preparing students for successful careers in the beverage industry. This dual role showcases his commitment to both his workplace and the broader community.
Recognition and Voting Process
The BC Food and Beverage Rise Awards shine a spotlight on various categories, including sustainability, social impact, innovation, and the Women Entrepreneur of the Year. Public voting for the awards will take place from September 9 to 23, 2025, allowing supporters to express their preferences for the nominees. The awards ceremony is anticipated to occur in November 2025, where winners will be celebrated for their achievements.
Maverick Estate Winery is strategically located halfway between Oliver and Osoyoos at 3974 Highway 97, making it a prominent destination for wine enthusiasts in the region. As the awards approach, the recognition of Livera’s efforts not only highlights his personal achievements but also underscores the growing prominence of British Columbia’s wine industry on the national stage.
