Organizations Invited to Apply for Community Grant Funding

Organizations in North Glengarry and surrounding areas can now apply for grant funding aimed at supporting community-focused initiatives. Two distinct grant opportunities are currently available, one through the North Glengarry Community Grant program and the other through the Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group’s Learning and Engagement Accelerator Fund (LEAF).
North Glengarry Community Grant Program
The North Glengarry Township has introduced its Community Grant Policy, designed to provide limited financial assistance to not-for-profit organizations and community groups. The program specifically supports special events or projects that emphasize community engagement and enrichment. In addition to monetary grants, the Township also offers “in-kind” support, which may include the reduced or complimentary use of municipal facilities, assistance from municipal staff, and waivers for permit fees or equipment loans.
Grant funding from this program will prioritize projects that focus on areas such as arts, culture and heritage, community beautification, special events, tourism development, and historical plaques. Organizations interested in applying must submit their applications to the Township office by October 31, 2025.
Commonwell’s LEAF Initiative
For the fifth consecutive year, the Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group is offering substantial funding through its LEAF initiative, which will distribute a total of $400,000 in grants. This funding is aimed at projects that foster learning and engagement within communities. Grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 will be available for initiatives focused on community and infrastructure learning programs.
Since its launch, the LEAF program has funded 54 projects, disbursing a total of $2.2 million to enhance community resilience and capacity. Tim Shauf, President and CEO of Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group, stated, “Through LEAF, we invite every community in Ontario to apply for grants that support the introduction of new programs or the enhancement of community facilities where residents learn, play, engage, and gather.”
Applications for the LEAF initiative will be accepted until November 7, 2025, and submissions can be made online at www.leaf.thecommonwell.ca. The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group will evaluate applications based on community engagement and support for the proposed projects.
These grant opportunities represent a significant chance for organizations to secure funding that can drive meaningful change in their communities. Interested parties are encouraged to consider applying and take advantage of these resources designed to foster local development and engagement.
