Remembering Margaret Gross: A Life of Love and Community

Margaret Gross, a beloved member of her community, passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 93 at Oxford Senior Care. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Gross, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage, and her grandchild, Steven. Margaret leaves behind her two daughters, Lois and Margo, along with three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Born on June 13, 1932, in Mt. Lehman, British Columbia, Margaret met Albert in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan, marrying him in 1953. The couple later relocated to Calgary, Alberta, before returning to Margaret’s roots in Mt. Lehman in 1974. They eventually settled in Clearbrook, first in a house and then in a condominium since 1991.

Legacy of Community Involvement

Throughout her life, Margaret was known not only for her deep family ties but also for her significant contributions to her community. Together with Albert, she was one of the founding members of St. James Parish in Abbotsford, where they actively participated in parish activities and community service. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Margaret’s family shared that she had a knack for bringing people together, often hosting gatherings that fostered connections and built friendships. Her spirit remains alive in the hearts of her loved ones and the numerous individuals she encountered throughout her life.

A funeral mass to honor Margaret’s memory will be held on January 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Following the service, a reception will take place at Mt. Lehman Hall at 1:00 PM, where family and friends can share their memories and celebrate her remarkable life.

The community mourns the loss of a cherished matriarch whose legacy of love will resonate for generations to come.
