RONA, a leading Canadian home improvement retailer, has launched its third annual Home Sweet Home campaign, aimed at supporting local communities across the Okanagan region. The initiative, which begins on September 1, 2023 and runs until October 12, 2023, will see stores in Vernon, Kelowna, and Penticton collect donations for around 150 local non-profit organizations. These organizations provide critical assistance to victims of domestic violence, low-income families, and individuals facing disabilities or mental health challenges.

The campaign, overseen by the RONA Foundation, invites customers to contribute to causes that resonate within their communities. Donations can be made in-store or online through rona.ca, where shoppers can choose to give $2, $5, or $10. The funds raised will directly benefit local organizations selected by the stores themselves, ensuring that the impact is felt close to home.

Community Focus and Goals

In the Okanagan/Thompson area, four specific organizations will receive support through this campaign:

– **RONA Vernon** will partner with Sleep In Heavenly Peace.
– **Home and Garden RONA Kelowna** will support Habitat For Humanity Okanagan.
– **RONA Penticton** will aid the South Okanagan Women in Need Society.
– **RONA Kamloops** will collaborate with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Kamloops.

“Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of the communities around us,” said José Lafitte, director of the RONA Foundation. “What I love most about our Home Sweet Home campaign is that its impact is significant at a local level; indeed, the selected organizations we help are located in the same regions as our stores and distribution centres.”

The RONA Foundation has set an ambitious target to raise $500,000 during this campaign, leveraging the collective efforts of its network. “Once again this year, everyone in our network is highly motivated to raise funds, especially since our store teams are the ones who decide which organization to support,” stated Catherine Laporte, board president of the RONA Foundation and chief digital and marketing officer.

Commitment to Community Well-being

RONA’s commitment extends beyond financial contributions. The foundation believes that every individual deserves a suitable living environment that meets their needs. The organizations supported by this campaign play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable Canadians.

As the campaign progresses, RONA stores will engage with their communities, encouraging customers to participate in this meaningful initiative. By fostering a spirit of giving, RONA aims to create lasting positive change for those in need across the region.

With the combined efforts of RONA and its customers, the Home Sweet Home campaign will strive to provide essential support to those who need it most.
