Saugeen Shores Constables Honored for Life-Saving Rescue
Three constables from the Saugeen Shores Police Service have received a Chief’s Commendation award for their remarkable efforts in saving a life during a rescue operation in Lake Huron this past June. The award was presented on October 15, 2025, to Constables Noah Ross, Morgan Hamilton, and Travis Wagner, recognizing their exemplary courage and prompt action.
On June 8, 2025, the constables responded to a distress call that required immediate intervention. According to Saugeen Shores Police Chief Kevin Zettel, their swift actions were crucial in assisting an individual in peril. In a statement, Zettel emphasized that their decisive response not only saved a life but also exemplified the highest standards of bravery, compassion, and public service.
“Their heroic actions reflect great credit upon each of them and serve as an inspiration to all,” Chief Zettel stated. While the specifics of the incident are limited to protect the privacy of the individual involved, the commendation underscores the dedication and commitment of the Saugeen Shores Police Service to community safety.
Zettel expressed pride in the constables’ performance, highlighting the importance of their actions in ensuring the well-being of those they serve. “We are extremely proud of the involved officers,” he added, reinforcing the department’s commitment to upholding high standards of service.
The recognition of Constables Ross, Hamilton, and Wagner serves as a reminder of the vital role law enforcement officers play in emergency situations. Their readiness to act in critical moments not only saves lives but also fosters trust and confidence within the community they serve.
As the Saugeen Shores Police Service continues to prioritize public safety, this commendation illustrates the impact that dedicated officers can have on the lives of individuals in need. The community can take pride in knowing that its police force is composed of individuals willing to go above and beyond in the line of duty.
