Tiskilwa Historical Society Honors Veterans with Tribute Performance

The Tiskilwa Historical Society will pay tribute to veterans with a free performance of The Drummer Boy of Shiloh by singer and storyteller Barry Cloyd. This event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on November 17, 2023, at the Museum on Main. Cloyd’s performance intertwines music and narrative, offering a poignant depiction of the Civil War through the perspective of a young drummer boy. The show aims to celebrate the courage and sacrifice of veterans, both past and present.

Prior to the performance, attendees are encouraged to visit an exhibit featuring military uniforms and memorabilia. This exhibit will take place at the Gallery on Galena, located at 550 N. Galena St., from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.. This pre-show experience provides an opportunity to reflect on the historical significance of military service and its impact on society.
