Campbell River Genealogy Society Hosts Online Research Seminar

The Cambell River Genealogy Society is set to host an online seminar on November 8, aimed at enhancing participants’ genealogy research skills. This seminar will focus on the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS), a framework designed to ensure rigorous research practices in genealogy.
Attendees will learn about the five key elements of the GPS. These components include conducting reasonably exhaustive research, providing complete and accurate source citations, engaging in thorough analysis and correlation, resolving conflicting evidence, and crafting soundly reasoned, coherently written conclusions. The seminar promises to equip participants with essential skills that are vital for effective genealogical research.
The session will be led by Eva Holmes, a genealogist based in Maine, who specializes in research pertaining to New England and Atlantic Canada. Holmes brings extensive knowledge and experience to the seminar, making it a valuable opportunity for those interested in genealogy.
Pre-registration is mandatory for participation. Interested individuals can register through the provided link, with a $10 registration fee due by November 7. This fee ensures access to the seminar and the wealth of knowledge that will be shared.
This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the Cambell River Genealogy Society to foster a deeper understanding of genealogy. By providing educational resources, the society aims to empower individuals in their pursuit of family history research.
