Global Leaders Converge in Toronto for Economic Transformation Forum

Global leaders, decision makers, and experts are gathering from October 15-17, 2025, at the Toronto Global Forum to address pressing economic and geopolitical challenges. The event, held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, aims to foster dialogue on a variety of crucial topics under the theme ‘Leading in Times of Transformation’.
Now in its 19th year, the Toronto Global Forum is organized by the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA), an organization dedicated to promoting collaboration and innovation in addressing global issues. This year’s conference seeks to create a framework that helps leaders navigate an increasingly complex economic landscape.
Focused Themes for Each Day
The forum will feature daily themes aimed at tackling specific areas of concern. On October 15, discussions will revolve around finance, trade, supply chains, and food security. The following day, October 16, will focus on energy, infrastructure, and critical resources. Finally, on October 17, the spotlight will shift to geopolitics, innovation, and technology.
Sessions will include in-depth discussions on finance, energy security, the future of trade, critical minerals, infrastructure, defense, and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence. Some sessions will also be livestreamed, allowing a global audience to engage with the content.
Notable Speakers and Perspectives
This year’s lineup features prominent figures such as Boitumelo Mosako, CEO of the Development Bank of South Africa; Börje Ekholm, President and CEO of Ericsson; and Bowei Lee, Group Chairman of LCY Chemical. Their participation underscores the forum’s commitment to bringing together influential voices from various sectors.
“It is a privilege to welcome this delegation of thought leaders and industry experts to this year’s Toronto Global Forum,” said Nicholas Rémillard, CEO of the IEFA. “This year’s theme reflects the increasingly challenging landscape our global leaders find themselves navigating and the opportunities to foster a future where our economies can thrive.”
While the forum is not primarily political, its focus on global economic challenges often attracts heads of state, central bank governors, and other high-level decision-makers. This intersection of economics and policy has sparked criticism from some who feel the discussions may lean too heavily towards a globalist agenda, potentially overlooking the needs of local communities.
The Toronto Global Forum not only serves as a platform for high-level discussions but also aims to unite diverse perspectives on the future of global economics. As leaders gather to strategize for a rapidly changing world, the outcomes of this conference could have lasting implications for international collaboration and economic resilience.
