Alberta Driving School Shifts to New Venue After Cancellation

The BMW Club Southern Alberta is seeking a new venue for its Tire Rack Street Survival school after a recent cancellation due to policy changes at the Calgary Police Services. The club had previously held the program at the Calgary Police Services Training Grounds, but a shift in policy prohibited public use of the facility. This unexpected decision has prompted the club to explore alternative locations for the driving school, which focuses on teaching practical driving skills.
Glen Cook, the Tire Rack Street Survival manager for the BMW Club Southern Alberta, expressed disappointment over the cancellation. “After four schools at the Calgary Police training facility, there was a policy change which necessitated the club seek a new facility for the school,” Cook stated. The Tire Rack Street Survival program is designed to enhance driving skills and promote safety among young drivers, making it a vital resource for the community.
As the club navigates this transition, it remains committed to providing quality training to participants. The program typically includes hands-on driving exercises aimed at improving critical driving techniques, such as emergency handling and vehicle control.
The cancellation has raised concerns among local driving enthusiasts and parents of young drivers who have benefited from past sessions. The BMW Club Southern Alberta is actively looking for a new site that meets its requirements and can accommodate the practical nature of the course.
In the meantime, the club is encouraging interested participants to stay updated through its official channels. The goal remains to resume the Tire Rack Street Survival program as soon as a suitable venue is secured, ensuring that young drivers can continue to receive essential training.
With the ongoing search for a new location, the BMW Club Southern Alberta is hopeful for a quick resolution. The club aims to uphold its commitment to driver education and safety, which is more crucial than ever in today’s driving environment.
